![]() | Laurel Holtzapple is founder and principal of groundworks studio. Laurel is a registered landscape architect with a passion for creating artful and sustainable designs that connect people with the landscape. She is a creative thinker, good listener, and skilled collaborator. Laurel spent a decade practicing at the internationally acclaimed landscape architecture firms of Olin Partnership and Andropogon Associates in Philadelphia. Laurel mentored with Carol and Colin Franklin of Andropogon Associates, protégées of groundbreaking landscape architect and author of "Design with Nature" Ian McHarg and with Laurie Olin of Olin Partnership, designer of landmark landscapes including Bryant Park in New York City and the Getty Center in Los Angeles. Prior to founding groundworks studio, Laurel designed, managed and provided construction administration for large and complex projects including sculpture gardens, college campuses, green roofs, streetscapes, parks, botanical gardens, and historic courtyards. As the garden writer for The Spirit, Plaza-Midwood's newsletter, and the landscape architect for the Midwood Community Garden, Laurel is deeply connected with her community. |
